４８４：小さなニュースに見えるもの

土日の作業が少し進んでいる。休憩中、ヴェランダでタバコを吸っていると近所の大農家の庭先から焚火の煙が上がっている。寒々しい曇りの午前だが、武蔵野の雰囲気がまだ楽しめる。この寒々しい冬の曇り空の中で煙を見ると亜炭での暖房を使うトルコ・アンカラの生活をなぜか思い出す。

さて、主題である。足立さんのブログは毎日見ているが各国の電力開発の現状が実に良く分かる。足立さん以外には情報を伝えるメディアがないから非常に参考になる。

今日は中国人民日報から下記の小さなニュースが届いた。中国にとっては隣国ネパールとインドの関係は重要である。水資源や電力問題は越境問題でもあるが、日本は越境関係がないのでピンとこないのであろう。

こんなささやかなニュースにも越境問題を抱える各国の利害が見えてくる。

Nepal-India water resources meeting begins in Nepal, November 20, 2009

The fifth secretary level Nepal-India meeting on water resources is going to be started in western Nepali city Pokhara from Friday.

Western Regional Irrigation Director Pradip Pandey informed that discussion will be held on various issues including irrigation, water induced disaster control, water resources and energy.

The two-day meeting is learnt be led by Energy Secretary Shankar Koirala on behalf of Nepal and Indian Water Resources Secretary Umeshnath Punjiyar on behalf of India.
