Team leader, climate change impact and adaptation

Chemonics International seeks a team leader for the anticipated five-year, USAID-funded, Mekong River Basin Climate Change Adaptation project in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. The project seeks to:

•Increase communities’ adaptation capacity and resilience to negative impacts of climate change
•Strengthen human and institutional capacity to develop and implement climate change adaptation plans and strategies
•Strengthen policies, tools, methodologies, and practices for ecosystem services valuation and climate resiliency
•Demonstrate and scale up model actions for integrated approaches to climate change adaptation
•Strengthen and sustain regional learning networks to share and replicate best practices

This is a ten month, short-term contract. Full study must be completed within ten months of the project start date.

Qualifications:

•Master’s or higher degree in environmental sciences, natural resource management, biodiversity management or related field
•Relevant work experience in agriculture or ecosystem research, including experience in climate change impact studies, preferably with experience in application of climate change forecast information with agriculture suitability or ecosystem envelope models
•Experience with agriculture cropping systems in Southeast Asia required
•Significant management experience in leading a major scientific study
•Willingness to work in a developing country
•Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
•Strong interpersonal skills
•Exceptional written and oral language skills
•Fluency in English
