前回の宿題であった最新の近況が豪州テレビ局ABCから下記が入っている。

Major water management plan to secure Murray-Darling

The newly-established Murray-Darling Basin Authority has taken the first step in devising a comprehensive basin plan that will set sustainable limits on how much water can be taken from the river system.

Authority chair Michael Taylor says a draft plan will be released for community comment in a year's time, with the final plan due to take effect in 2011.

He says it will be the most advanced water management plan in the world and he is confident state and federal governments will cooperate.

"We have just the most significant shift in the way in which water is being managed since the Constitution was written; I think it's an opportunity we ought to grasp," Mr Taylor said.

"I think the understanding of the need for change is so strong - both with the states and territories and within the Commonwealth - I suspect we're going to get lots of cooperation along the way."

実際の計画内容についてはまだ宿題である。

豪州は気候変動に係る京都プロトコールを批准していないが、気候変動に対応した水資源開発管理計画は意外と進んでいる。若干このブログでも紹介したが。

既にIWRMの成功とか失敗とかを議論する段階ではないと考えているが、今そこにある危機や長期的な展望を持った戦略や実行計画を考えれば良いのではなかろうか。優先順位と意思決定が重要である。
